This is the preparation phase of the trip. First off, map out the trip then provide a list if estimated goals so that I can see if I'm keeping on the schedule. I'm estimating breaks every 2 hours or so but I'm also moving them closer to locations where I'm likely to get gas. I don't want to have a break right at 8am on the side of the road.
So this is the first step. The map (pictured above) and the first table of estimated times. I've made notes if there's anything I want to be aware of. Also note that on the map, the red "GR" indicate the estimated gas and rest stops as listed below.
The next step is to create a checklist of gear I'm taking along. This gear inventory will be used when I'm packing up the bike on Thursday.
Before heading out, I'm going to have to check the service manual and make necessary changes. In particular, I'll change the oil, clean and adjust the chain, wash and wax the bike. I have a couple of pre-ride mechanical items I'll be trying to do. Change the rear brake line with a braided one. Add ThrottleMeister bar ends.
