In 1974 I joined the Marines and my first weigh in was at 195 pounds.

This is me at my worst weight. About 290 pounds or so. I was getting close to 300 pounds when I decided I didn't want to go over that mark and started doing something about it. This was around 1993.

These were taken mainly for Rita when we first started communicating via the Internet. This would be around 1999

This pic was taken around January 04, just before we moved to Colorado. I think in this one, I let it all hang out so I didn't usually look this bad.

In 2003 I got my first tattoo and decided I wanted to take a few pictures in memory of the event and to cronicle the few days it took to heal. The one on the left was taken November 17th, 2003. The one on the right was taken 14 months later on January 17th, 2005. Approximate weight on the left is 270 pounds. Weight on the right is 214.5 lbs.

After a shoulder and wrist injury in February 2006 and starting to telecommute in November of 2006, I basically went back to my bad old ways. A new job with exposure to a good sized cafeteria didn't help. But still not as bad as even the left tattoo picture but up to 244 as of November 2009 at the doctor's office. At that point I decided to get motivated and make the attempt to get my weight back down. In March someone identified an iPhone app called LoseIt! which was a calorie counter. It also posted results (weight loss and exercise) to my Facebook account. The above picture was taken June 26th just a couple of weeks away from my next motorcycle trip. Pretty similar to the other one on the right, eh? I'm at 214.2 lbs. Right on time :)

Back in 2005 I weighed in and weighed in at 199.25 pounds. Here are a pair of pics I took that day, front and back. Happy Happy, Joy Joy.

The secret? Eat less, excercise more.

Since then as noted, I had a relapse. I expect it. I like food :) As of today (6/26/2010), here is a new, perhaps more flattering picture.

While eat less is still a good idea (I'm running about 1,200 to 1,500 calories a day), no amount of exercise seems to make much of a difference in losing the weight. I am using the P90X system to help tone me up so I look like the above picture now. I'm only 4 weeks into the 12 week program so I'll add new pics below as I progress. My goal now besides weight loss is to be able to do a few pull-ups. I've never been able to do a strict pull-up so it may take a while and even more weight loss. Stay tuned.

These are taken 7/10/10 when I was at 213.6 lbs. The gear is what I wear under my motorcycle suit (Aerostich) to be comfortable during the ride.
