This is the right cabinet with one of the drawers. It worked out pretty well.

Glued the two pieces that are used for the work bench together, then clamped and ran a double row of screws down the center.

So I bought some washers so the drawers would slide in and out smoothly.

I spent about an hour taking the faces back off, painting the back, putting them back on, then painting the rest of the face.

I waited a couple of days to make sure the laminate was secure before trying to route it. Then I finally did it and it came out very well.

You can never have too many clamps. I clamped the edge down but found the far ends were a little off so I broke out the tie downs.

And now from the side. I cut the corners into 45* ends so they'd fit, then trimmed the ends so they fit with the backsplash. And the backsplash is installed too.

This morning (Saturday), I sanded the edges and backsplash. Then I used polyurethane to protect them. Finally I screwed the cabinets to the tabletop.
