The gear that arrived. I can assemble before the sound card, dvd, and OS arrive

Gigabyte Motherboard, Corsair 750W Power Supply

E8500 Dual Core, CPU Fan, 4 Gig of Ram, Radeon 4870 Video Card

2 750 Gig Drives, Arctic Silver Compound; for the CPU and Fan

Left side of Antec Case. 3 Fans are provided for free in case the others bail.

See, there's a note that there were some faulty fans. Since it's easier to just ship three replacements vs trying to find the failed fans, they just shipped three replacements.

The top of the system has this massive fan plus speaker, Firewire and a couple of USB ports.

The rear of the case. Power Supply goes on the bottom. The little black openings are for external cooling for the system (pipes).

The front and top of the case. The Plexiglass is protected during shipping.

Inside the case. Room for another fan.

The extra screws, a pad, a floppy holder, and the T thing is to hold a longer video card if necessary.

The cover can hold another fan. Good thing I have extras.

First, the motherboard. Cables, books, and the board.

Removed from the anti-static bag. Nice and colorful, eh?

CPU. That's the CPU fan that comes with the chip. That tiny square to the far side of the fan is the CPU. About an inch by inch in size.

See. It's not large at all.

The replacement CPU fan! It's gigantic. The middle piece goes on top and the right side piece goes under the motherboard.

The CPU FAN mounted on the motherboard. It's a monster

The memory chips out of the box.

See, they're in the wrong place right now. I'll catch it later. They go in the same colors which is different than I'm used to.

Here's the power supply

The thing comes in a bag! Unexpected.

The motherboard and CPU in the case. I have an extra video card I'll be installing to support three monitors (my current setup).

Look at all those cables. I've removed the bottom drive holder to install the hard disks.

One disk installed.

The second disk waiting.

the Radeon 4870 Video Card. It's massive too. About as heavy as the 750G drive.

Everything installed. The cables are a mess. I think I'll be shifting things around when it's time to install the DVD and sound card.

Up in the rack and ready to power on. But not yet. Not until the rest of the parts arrive.

And the rest have arrived. Logitech X540 Speakers and Creative Laps X-Fi XtremeGamer

Here's the DVD +/- R 20x. Even comes with Nero. And XP Pro SP3 OEM (can they do that?)

Wide sound card. Has an Optical connector too. No mic though which is weird

Installation disk and guides.

DVD out of the box.

Speakers out of the box.

Back of the system with everything in place.

It sure is packed. The plug chain are the fans. Yellow are the SATA cables.

System is on for the first time. Little blue lights from the fans.

Front view of it on.

The tower with the new system.

Desk setup with three monitors and the mac up.

Some of the blinkenlights. The two on top is the top switch. The horizontal at the bottom is the Linksys and behind it is the Cable Modem. The single green light behind it is the Airport Extreme.

From the table (really boxes covered with a sheet :) ).

Close up view of the back of the box. The little red dot is the optical music connector.

The monitors in screen saver mode. Mac to the left. External disk and third switch to its right.
